The Boss : "Can I open the door?"
Here's me : "Uh.... I would guess you probably can?..."
The Boss : "To let some of the heat out."
Here's me : "Just turn the heating off?"
The Boss : "But I don't want the heat to escape."
Here's me : "Um, just turn the heating off."
The Boss : "It'll still be too warm."
Here's me : "Turn the heating off and open the window?"
The Boss : "No. I'll just open the door. I don't want the heat to escape."

Your blog is the single funniest thing I've read online all year - and I spend >6 hours a day online, most days of the week, so that's pretty high praise!
ReplyDeleteAlright, maybe she's ill and we're all the equivalent of those Victorians who used to buy tickets to Bedlam to laugh at the inmates.... but sod it, I've worked for people not unlike this in my time, and you have to let off steam somehow!
(Has she asked if anyone's hacked into the bin yet btw?!)
Thank you very much!
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't think there's anything seriously medically wrong with the woman, or I really wouldn't feel quite right about all this; at some point I must go into depth on my theories as the root of these things to allay any concerns people might have that we might actually be mocking the mentally ill here.
No, she never even noticed the bin, and the cleaning lady appears to have replaced it this morning...
My manager had what a KIND person would call a form of tourette's, in that if it was inapprpriate he'd say it - of many, MANY great beauts, the time he asked some absolutely speechless customers "would you like to see her vagina?" stands out to this day.
ReplyDeleteI can't explain it aright but it was NOT sexual harrassment (been there seen that when I was younger) - he just seemed to occasionally have to say the one thing no reasonable human being would EVER say.
I think many people through choices they make pick up a kind of habitual laziness in their thought patterns, and/or speech, which then go on to dominate their interactions - as an example I swear like a docker, and have realised that was through choice that has now led to habit, but it was and still is optional - I just like it!
